Championships Day 2, Saturday 9th April 2016
Little Sydney is racing’s newest and most sought after foodie experience exclusive to The Championships. Held across two consecutive Saturdays at the world-renowned Royal Randwick, this is the social event of the season.
Little Sydney revolves around the very essence of this city – the extraordinary food and wine, offering racegoers a gourmet experience designed by celebrity chefs from Chiswick, Icebergs and China Doll.
Situated on the beautiful Rose Garden Lawn moments from the track, the luxe marquees overlook the Theatre of the Horse, providing an unrivalled view of the magnificent thoroughbreds as they parade ahead of their race while enjoying Sydney’s finest food, wine and entertainment.
After a successful launch last year, Little Sydney creates a playground for Sydney’s social scene providing a day of world-class entertainment and exhilaration.
Bringing a diverse menu to Little Sydney, China Doll is inspired by cuisine from Japan, Hong Kong, China and South East Asia. For the past ten years the head chef – Frank Shek has orchestrated the kitchen and pushed the boundaries of Asian cuisine. With the perfect mix of relaxed yet professional service, stylish food, cocktails and glamorous location, China Doll delivers the ultimate Sydney dining experience.
Returning for year two of Little Sydney, renowned chef and restaurateurs, Matt Moran and Peter Sullivan offer a CHISWICK inspired marquee at Little Sydney. CHISWICK head chef, Richie Dolan has designed a seasonal, produce-driven menu using ingredients from the restaurant’s kitchen garden. Guests start the day with a selection of canapés and then move into a buffet style lunch including signature CHISWICK desserts.
Creative Director Paul Wilson and Ex-Becasse Head Chef Monty Kulodrovic teamed with the newly created events and catering arm “Icebergs at Home”, in collaboration with Cherry Kitchen to create the Icebergs marquee. The Icebergs Terrace Cafe served light morning options, followed by southern Italian inspired Risotto, Salumi and Antipasti Bar by Paul Wilson and Da Orazio then kicked off with the infamous Porchetta.
